Avid viewers of the AMC show "The Walking Dead" have been eagerly awaiting its return to the small screens given it exciting Season 7 storyline. Recently, showrunner Robert Kirkman shared his thoughts on Glenn's original story in the comic books and the secrecy surrounding Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) victim.

"The Walking Dead" comic books already revealed Glenn's (Steven Yeun) fate in its 100th issue where Negan bashed his head with the barb-wired bat Lucille. Many fans speculated that the AMC series will follow the same plotline for its upcoming Season 7 premiere.

The AMC series' cast members and its showrunners remained tight-lipped about Negan's victim and Glenn's potential death. However, Kirkman teased during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that they tried to stay true to the two characters' iconic encounter in the comic books.

Kirkman mentioned the pressure they felt in adapting and changing some of the details featured in the said comic book issue. Despite expectations from comic book fans, it never stopped the AMC series' showrunners from exploring a different plot or story development for certain characters.

The executive producer highlighted the challenge of expanding the show's world while staying true to its original comic book content. "The Walking Dead" Season 7 will include several new environments and new characters that will set it apart from previous seasons, according to Kirkman.

According to the showrunner, some of the security measures that they took to avoid potential story leaks. Filming scenes with a cast member's body double was one of the tactics they used to confuse other people about a character's fate.

In other news, AMC has recently renewed the hit zombie apocalyptic series for a Season 8 run. In a statement obtained by TV Line, AMC President Charlie Collier expressed his appreciation over their renewed partnership with showrunners Kirkman and Scott Gimple. He also conveyed his gratitude to the show's avid fans who breathed "life into this remarkable series."
