Nintendo (NX) Switch Will Sell Starting at $250, To Unpack in Multiple Color Options on Release Date?

While it was already revealed that the Nintendo NX will actually unbox as the hybrid console Nintendo Switch, its maker mostly held off on the juicy details. But a new rumor indicates that the Wii U replacement will cost no more than $300 and likely to sell starting at $250.

Or even at dirt cheap tag of $200, according to a new report by WCCFTech. The same report pointed to the latest NX/Switch information shared by The Wall Street Journal tech journalist Takashi Mochizuki that the gaming console will hit the market relatively cheaper compared to the introductory price of past Nintendo gaming machines.

Mochizuki said that the Switch will likely start between $200 and $250 as the Wii U, for instance, was first sold by Nintendo at around $300. The journalist pointed to Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima as source of his Switch pricing guesswork.

Apparently, it was Kimishima who hinted that "Nintendo's new platform won't be exceedingly more expensive that past Nintendo consoles," WCCFTech said on its report.

Apart from the possible pricing of the NX/Switch when unboxed, Mochizuki also revealed that Nintendo plans no further details revelation on the game console this 2016. "No more official announcement would come this year on 1) game titles 2) spec details, including region-lock status," the WSJ reporter was quoted by WCCFTech as saying.

Mochizuki confirmed too that inside the retail box of the Nintendo Switch, gamers will find the Joy-Con controllers and the console's Switch Dock. But it remains unclear if the Joy-Con Grip will be part of the package or Nintendo will sell it as separate accessory.

As for the other NX/Switch details, the report indicated that further revelations will have to wait until 2017, which according to Mochizuki, "isn't that bad. We have a lot of other things to have fun with and we've waited for more than a year for this so can wait a bit longer."

And as Nintendo intends to withhold information on anything NX or Switch for now, one fan decided to suggest to the company the color variants that could make console more compelling. According to BGR, Imgur user TheGrumpyCat created his concepts of the device that hopefully will pick up or at least a number of them such as the Rose Gold, Family Computer and NES editions.

The Nintendo NX release date is set March 2017 but a preview was provided by its maker and can be viewed below:
