It appears that the OnePlus 4 release date will happen at a later date as the next flagship killer that Carl Pei will introduce soon is likely taking the name OnePlus 3T. And according to the latest rumors, the device will be slightly pricier but with the expected jaw-dropping specs and feature bumps.
The refresh, according to 9to5Google, will be stickered with a price hike of $80, the report pointing to gadget tipper Evan Blass as source of the new information. Blass, however, provided no further details on why OnePlus will opt for the price mark.
But the price increase might be justified by Pei's recent assurance that the OP3 or even the OP4 will hit the market still sporting the more superior Optic AMOLED display. While the company chief has admitted that AMOLED is in shorty supply these days, he insisted that the display panel will remain in the OnePlus supply chain.
The decision might have forced OnePlus to source AMOLED from suppliers with higher asking price, likely resulting to the increased price tag of the OnePlus 3T.
Or the upward price movement can also be explained by the switch to Snapdragon 821, which is Qualcomm's enhanced Snapdragon 820, that clocks a bit faster and is therefore pricier than the its immediate predecessor. The OP3T is also rumored to boast of RAM provision between 6GB to 8GB.
GSM Arena also reported that the OnePlus 3T will come equipped with a very powerful 16-megapixel rear shooter that boast of the new Sony IMX398 sensor. For sure this upgrade also accounts for the purported price hike to come with the 3T launch, the report added.
Touted as flagship killer, the OnePlus 3T is packed with the standard high-end handset features headlined by 128GB of internal memory, fingerprint sensor and a selfie-optimized 8-megapixel front camera. As expected, Oxygen OS will bring the 3T to life but underneath it will be Android 7.0 Nougat that will fire up the device.
The OnePlus 3T is said to be introduced soon but the actual release date is not expected to happen until early 2017 or January as the earliest schedule of the device unboxing.
