Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Lily Aldridge attend the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards at Microsoft Theater in 2015.

Taylor Swift hasn't released new music since she dropped the award-winning and record-breaking "1989" in 2014. Although TayTay has been keeping things on the down low since her highly-publicized relationship and subsequent breakup with actor Tom Hiddleston, there are rumors that the 26-year-old singer is quietly working on a new album.

Swift previously denied rumors about her preparing to release a new album this year. However, a Snapchat post from one of her squad members may have given her secret away. Country singer Kelsea Ballerini took to Snapchat to preview a new song. Fans noticed that the vocals sound more like Swift's than Ballerini's.

According to Radio.com, the lyrics to the song goes "We didn't know it, thought we could grow it / beautiful for a moment / we were roses, yeah." It's either a song from the rumored Taylor Swift new album 2016 or it's a collaborative track between the two country stars.

Another clue that led fans to believe that Swift will drop an album in fall this year is the consistent release dates of her previous album. Digital Spy reported that Swift has been releasing a new album in the fall every two years since her self-titled debut album in October 2006. Most of her albums came out in October, with the exception of "Fearless" that was released in November 2008.

A surprise album or single is a new trend among big music makers these days. Beyonce did it in 2013 with her self-titled album. In 2015, Drake dropped "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" without prior warning.

The "Shake It Off" singer is a big star in her own right, so she doesn't necessarily have to keep everyone informed about any developments as to her music. If she puts it out there, people will embrace it with open arms.

There's a lot of speculation as to how Taylor Swift new album 2016 will sound like. She was rocking a lot of country tunes prior to "1989," in which she went for full pop tracks. It's expected that she's going to sing about heart ache and ex-boyfriends. There are already two candidates to star in her chart toppers: Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston.

Stay tuned for more updates on Taylor Swift new album 2016.
