The high-profile romance of the former happy couple Mariah Carey and James Packer has ended. What looked to be a temporary relationship respite was quickly squashed since the pop diva and the Aussie billionaire are parting for good.
The couple split for real and are not getting back together, People reported. The two first met in 2014 when the film "Hercules" premiered and Hollywood producer Brett Ratner invited Carey to the event.
"We first met in Aspen. A couple years ago we were at the Hercules premiere," Carey revealed on "The Steve Harvey Show" earlier this year. "We were talking and laughing and people were getting mad at us and stuff like that."
Carey and Packer officially admitted they were a couple on June 19, 2015 and were often seen holding hands in public ever since, enjoying each other's company. She and her twins with ex husband Nick Cannon, now five-year-old Monroe and Moroccan were in a special Mediterranean trek with Packer's three kids. The group also traveled to Israel and Italy.
On July 22, 2015, Carey dedicated her hit "Hero" to Packer when she performed at Caesars Palace' Colosseum. She told the audience she had a new heart and her 49-year-old beau was there.
Carey and Packer made their red carpet debut on Sept. 21, 2015 at "The Intern" premiere in New York. In the following months, they shared the spotlight together. She held his hand during the opening of his new Studio City resort in Macau, China in Oct. 2015.
The high-profile relationship was approved by Cannon, who is after the welfare and happiness of his twins. The diva and her ex are known to get together for their kids, and bonded as a family during Thanksgiving 2015.
Carey and Packer went to Aspen, Colorado in Dec. 2015 for their first holiday together. On Jan. 21, he proposed to her in New York with a 35-carat, $10-million ring designed by Wilfredo Rosado. He, who is an "alpha male" was reportedly drawn to a successful woman who also loves to be taken care of.
In April, Packer gave the 46-year-old singer a surprise visit in Milan where she performed at the Mediolanum Forum. The following months, wedding plans started to circulate. In July, the couple boarded his luxury yacht in cruising French Riviera.
It was in late September that the couple was last photographed together in Mykonos, Greece, which is said to be the venue of their breakup. Their marriage would have been her third and his second.
Cannon joined Carey and the kids for her Halloween bash while Packer was nowhere in sight. On Oct. 27, Thursday, the Carey-Packer breakup was confirmed.
The singer was still seen wearing her ring when she visited Malibu with friends. Speculations on what caused the breakup include the mogul's desire for privacy, his alleged jealousy with her backup dancer and allegations of excessive spending, according to US Weekly.
