Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose could form The Shield for one night only at the Royal Rumble.

The WWE has been teasing a mini-reunion of The Shield with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns possibly teaming up to take on Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens. However, the latest rumors imply that the WWE is only doing The Shield reunion to help Reigns get over with the crowd.

The Shield is considered by many fans as the most successful wrestling stable of the decade with the three members being the foundation of the WWE's future. Rollins, Reigns and Dean Ambrose, the three members of The Shield, have held the WWE World Championship for a total of six times.

However, unlike Rollins and Ambrose, Reigns has failed to get over the crowd and he still gets booed consistently despite being booked as strong as John Cena. Rollins perfectly played the heel role for two years while Ambrose had his ups and down but he is more over than Reigns.

As recapped by WWE.com, The Architect helped The Big Dog at the end this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. There were a good "YES" chants from the crowd as Rollins and Reigns had a good staredown. Both superstars are currently portraying babyface characters and booked to become members of Team Raw for Survivor Series.

Several reports have claimed that the WWE has been planning to reunite The Shield for a night even though it will be just a Triple Powerbomb spot. It should be noted that Ambrose is on SmackDown but it is expected that he is going to interact with Reigns and Rollins at Survivor Series.

According to Shawn Lealos of The Inquisitr, the WWE is doing the right thing in reuniting The Shield even for just one night. He believes that it will help the ratings spike up for a but it benefits Reigns, who needs something to revitalize his career.

"A reunion of sorts could be huge for the WWE, and a Shield reunion could get the fans behind Roman Reigns once again. It will be interesting to see how the WWE works this angle through Survivor Series," Lealos noted.

Nevertheless, it should be noted that these are just rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. Check out the video below to see Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose reunite at WWE Payback 2015 for a Triple Powerbomb spot.
