The 30th edition of the Survivor Series is shaping up to be the biggest one in its history but two huge superstars are expected to miss the event. According to the latest rumors, John Cena and Randy Orton may not be present at Survivor Series on Nov. 20 in Toronto, Canada.
Cena and Orton are part of the SmackDown Live roster but they apparently won't make it in the event due to different circumstances. The 15-time WWE world champion was advertised for Survivor Series but he was pulled out just recently, per Wrestle Zone.
It should be noted that Cena is currently on hiatus from WWE television because he is filming the second season of his reality television series. He is expected to miss time until late December when he returns for the post-Christmas WWE Live Event on Dec. 26.
On the other hand, Orton is currently in the middle of a confusing feud with The Wyatt Family and Kane. He was teaming with The Big Red Monster in the past several weeks but he helped Bray Wyatt defeat Kane in a match last week.
The Viper has seemingly joined Bray and Luke Harper in The Wyatt Family but his actions have not been explained. In a recent live event in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Orton, Bray and Harper teased the crowd by posing at the turnbuckle together.
Rumors backstage suggest that Orton was planned to be part of the SmackDown Live team for the traditional Survivor Series match against Team Monday Night Raw. However, he is now expected to miss the event just like his good buddy Cena.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Orton will take a short time off around Survivor Series because his wife, Kimberly Kessler, is expected to give birth on Nov. 22. He is scheduled to return to television on the Nov. 29 edition of SmackDown Live.
Nevertheless, these are just rumors at the moment and Cena could be used for one night only since the WWE needs all the star power they need. As for Orton, it is more of a paternity leave and it is mandatory for the company to let him take some time off.
The 30th edition of the Survivor Series will be held at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada. The main event for the match is Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg with Raw and SmackDown having three 5-on-5 Survivor Series matches against each other.
