China’s Hottest Grandpa Celebrates 80th Birthday, Shares Secrets to Looking Young

| Nov 07, 2016 01:14 AM EST

China's hottest grandpa once strutted down the catwalk during the China Fashion Week.

Weng Deshun just celebrated his 80th birthday in black jeans and a white shirt. He paused from the D.J. table and was partying hard, celebrating eight decades of life.

"I should wear a long robe with the word 'longevity' embroidered on the front," he said.

His sense of humor is intact and is never shy to show it. Pretending to wobble, he joked, "Two young maidens should help me to an old-style wooden chair."

Weng worked for the Communist Party at age 14 as a streetcar conductor. He was one of nine children of a cook in Shenyang.

At the cultural palace in Shenyang, he took lessons in art, singing, and dancing.

He said, "I liked acting, singing, dancing and playing musical instruments so much that I joined my unit's band."

"Even if there was just one sentry, say, at the top of a hill, like once in Dalian, we would surround him and perform," he added.

His secret to long life is to try new things and to keep a youthful mind.

"One way to know if you're old or not is to ask yourself 'Do you dare try something you've never done before?" he said.

He added, "Nature determines age, but you determine your state of mind."

During the China Fashion Week, last year, stereotypes were destroyed with Wang Deshun's fashion walk. He showed that he looks better than most people his age.

His daily regimen consists of three hours of working out, drinking less and an active sex life.

He said, "Morning is my learning time. I read books and news. From 3 to 6 p.m., is my exercise time, in a gym near my house."
