"K.C. Undercover" star Zendaya revealed new details regarding her character in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" as she cleared out that her role is not what it seems. Previous reports stated that Zendaya would be playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man's (Tom Holland) love interest Mary Jane Watson under the name "Michelle", which drew controversy among comic book and Marvel fans.
However, the pop singer told The Hollywood Reporter that her character will not be "romantic" and added that she has a dry, awkward intellectual and deep personality. With that being said, Zendaya's character could not be Mary Jane Watson due to the contrast of her personality to that of Michelle, being that Mary Jane is outgoing, friendly and confident in the comics.
