UEFA 2018 World Cup Qualifying: Romania vs Poland, Preview, Prediction & Predicted Lineup

Unbeaten team Romania (1-0-2, 5 points) is scheduled to host Group E co-leaders Poland (2-0-1, 7 points) at their home field of Arena Națională in Bucharest on Nov. 11, Friday as the UEFA 2018 World Cup qualifying tournament moves forward.

Romania has drawn two games and won one to remain undefeated in the tournament. However, their lone 5-0 win over Armenia in their second game was only enough to put them in the third spot of the group table, two points behind co-leaders Montenegro and Poland.

In their most recent World Cup qualifying match, the FIFA 34th-ranked Tricolorii was held to a 0-0 draw by 90th-ranked Kazakhstan on the road at the Astana Arena in Astana on Oct. 11, ESPN reported.

Kazakh forward Sergey Khizhnichenko nearly opened the scoring in the 21st minute, but he was caught offside and his shot was canceled.

Romania striker Bogdan Stancu had two chances that went wide in the first half before almost drilling the winning goal in the 87th to settle for the goalless tie.

Meanwhile, Poland has also stayed undefeated after three games but is tied on points with Montenegro on top of the Group E standings. However, Montenegro has the superior goal difference which makes head coach Adam Nawalka's team settle for second place at the moment.

The Eagles are coming off a 2-1 nipping of Armenia in the last matchday on Oct. 11 in a game held at the National Stadium in Warsaw, via BBC Sport.

An own goal from Armenia defender Hrayr Mkoyan three minutes into the second half opened the scoring for Poland.

The visitors found the equalizer in the 50th minute, courtesy of forward Marcos Pizzelli, but team captain Robert Lewandowski saved the day for the Polish eleven as he scored the winning goal in injury time from a cross by defensive midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski.
