Exo’s D.O and actress Kim So Hyun attend a recent press conference for “Pure Love” at the Lotte Cinema in Seoul, Korea.

Kim So-Hyun and Yoo Seung-Ho are making a drama comeback together. The two Hallyu stars have been cast as the leads in an upcoming MBC drama tentatively titled "Ruler: Master of the Mask."

Set in the 1700s, "Ruler: Master of the Mask" is based on true events following the attempt to privatize the control of the water supply. The "The Magician" actor will play Crown Prince Lee Sun, who goes up against a powerful and wealthy group that has privatized the water all through Joseon.

The "Let's Fight, Ghost" actress will play Lee Ga-Eun, who has a strong sense of justice and high intelligence. She attempts to take revenge on Crown Prince Lee Sun for beheading her father, but ends up falling in love with him.

"I was sold on the loaded script and the appealing character of Lee Sun and chose this production," Yoo said in a statement obtained by All Kpop. I will do my best to show a new side of me, I haven't shown yet through 'Monarch', so please look forward to it."

"Ruler: Master of the Mask" will benefit from the creativity of screenwriter Park Hye-Jin and director Son Hyeong-Seok. The latter helmed the 2015 hit drama "Shine or Go Crazy" and 2010's "Personal Taste."

Many Hallyu fans are anticipating the premiere of the "Ruler: Master of the Mask" since it marks Yoo's comeback on the TV screen since 2015's "Remember - War of the Son." Further, it is believed that the new MBC drama is bound to inspire comparisons to KBS 2TV's "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds."

The upcoming MBC series attracted comparisons to the KBS 2TV's hit show, as both are Joseon historical dramas with young lead actors born in 1993 (Park Bo-Gum and Yoo) and 1999 (Kim Yoo-Jung and So-Hyun), respectively, according to local newsoutlet Naver.

"Ruler: Master of the Mask" will premiere in the first half of 2017. Check out the video below for more information:
