The comments of one of the panels of "Fashion Police" Giuliana Rancic regarding the hair of Zendaya possibly smelling like that of weed during the 2015 Annual Oscars Awards was reportedly not the whole comment of Rancic. However, it was edited and was made as the main point of the host in order to make a greater impact.
According to Just Jared, Rancic said that Zendaya's hair looked very heavy and it affected her overall look. She noted that it's too much of a boho before saying the statement regarding the weed joke.
The statement that was emphasized was this: "Zendaya is more high-fashion. The hair to me on her is making her a little more boho. Like I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed."
According to Daily Mail, the producers of the E! show were the ones who edited out the rest of her supposed positive criticisms for Zendaya in order to heighten the public and make it a buzz.
Due to this, Zendaya posted a lengthy statement on her social networking accounts in order to call out on Rancic as she said that the host do not know anything about her and her culture and that locks are a symbol of being a strong woman from where she came from.
Rancic was quick to apologize about this and took it to her social networking accounts as well to reach out to Zendaya that it's not what she really meant. Zendaya did forgive her after.
A source close to Rancic said she was not making a racial joke and the jokes written out before did not come from her "as is often the case on 'Fashion Police."'
Although the script was written out for Rancic, she reportedly takes credit of her statements and will be more sensitive and responsible about what comes out of her mouth in the future.
