GHOST IN THE SHELL Trailer Teaser (2017)

"Ghost in the Shell" movie trailer finally arrived after a long wait, which undoubtedly excited established fan base and made younger generation of fans more curious of the upcoming manga/anime adaptation. There have been many speculations and updates surrounding the much-awaited movie, and so far here are the significant leads you need to know.

As a background for those who were not yet born during the popularity of the anime and for those who have lost their touch, "Ghost in the Shell" is a Japanese seinen manga series written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow.

It tells the story of the fictional counter-cyberterrorist organization Public Security Section 9, headed by Major Motoko Kusanagi, the main protagonist of the story. The story being depicted in the anime and manga series includes sociological issues and the consequences of technological advancement towards man and its environment.

Now fast-forward to 2017, the upcoming "GITS" adaptation is said to follow almost similar setting and plot.  However, according to Den Of Geek, the live-action movie to hit the cinemas next year will take the story from the anime series "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex," featuring   Section 9 fighting against terrorist group wanting to hinder Japan from taking in foreigners. The said plot of the upcoming movie will be devoid of the Puppet Master Storyline for the lack of enough time to fully tell the story.

Apart from the said deviation of the upcoming movie which will be initially released on March 31 next year, it is also good to note that producers chose to deviate from the fixed iconic Japanese character of the hit anime/manga series. As a result of such drastic deviation, fans are now accusing producers of the "GITS" of 'whitewashing' the iconically Japanese character, according to Daily Mail

It is widely known that Danish and Polish-descended actress, Scarlett Johansson, will take the role of the main "GITS" character Major Motoko Kusanagi. It is already known that Danish and Polish-descended actress, Scarlett Johansson, will take the role of the main "Ghost in the Shell" character Major Motoko Kusanagi. And for such matter, Ming-Na Wen from "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." criticizes Johansson's casting as 'whitewashing of Asian role.'

However, such criticism was brushed off by "GITS" director Rupert Sanders saying that Johansson is the "best actress of her generation." Guess we would just have to wait for the arrival of the live-action film and see how this latest anime/manga adaptation discredit critics.
