Ecuador continues on their downward spiral as the team is winless in six of their last seven matches. They are currently settled in the fourth spot of the CONMEBOL table, one point below third-running team Colombia and tied on points with fifth-place team Chile but has a higher goal differential.

La Tricolor is coming off a sorry 1-2 loss to powerhouse squad Uruguay in the last matchday on Thursday at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, as per Daily Mail Online.

Sporting CP defender Sebastian Coates opened the scoring for Uruguay in the 12th minute before Ecuador striker Felipe Caicedo was able to equalize the count in the 44th.

However, Uruguayan striker Diego Rolan answered immediately at the stroke of halftime to give the lead back to the hosts. Both teams went scoreless for the rest of the match as Ecuador dropped their fourth game in the qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Venezuela got their payback on Bolivia to the tune of a 5-0 demolition at the Estadio Monumental de Maturín in Maturín also last Thursday, ESPN reported. Bolivia beat Venezuela, 4-2, in their first meeting in the tournament last year.

Midfielder Jacobo Kouffati netted the opening goal of the contest right in the third minute. Striker Josef Martinez then scored three straight goals, in the 11th, 67th, and 70th minutes, to pull off a hat trick.

Midfielder Romulo Otero's goal in the 75th completed the five-goal haul of head coach Rafael Dudamel's men.

With the win, Venezuela has now climbed to the ninth spot in the 10-team CONMEBOL table, only one point ahead of Bolivia, after being in the cellar for the first 11 matchdays.
