Manchester City has relinquished the top two spots of the Premier League table to Chelsea and Liverpool after being winless in three of their last six matches. The team is tied on points with the Reds but has a lesser goal difference to settle at the third spot.

City is coming off a 2-1 victory over newly-promoted side Burnley on the road at the Turf Moor last Saturday for their second straight win, as per the Daily Express.

Argentine striker Sergio Agüero scored a brace in the 37th and 60th minutes to pull off the come-from-behind win for head coach Pep Guardiola's side after the hosts opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a goal from midfielder Dean Marney.

Meanwhile, Chelsea picked up its seventh consecutive win to remain on top of the English top flight standings with a 2-1 nipping of fellow contending team Tottenham Hotspur at the Stamford Bridge also last Saturday, The Guardian reported.

The Spurs scored the opening goal in the 11th minute courtesy of a goal by Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen. It was the first goal the Blues have conceded after six Premier League games.

However, head coach Antonio Conte's squad was able to equalize at the stroke of halftime with a curling strike from Spanish winger Pedro.

Chelsea then netted the winning goal six minutes after the restart as Nigerian midfielder Victor Moses directed Diego Costa's assist past the defense of Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

A tough fight is expected between the Citizens and the Blues, but Guardiola's boys have the advantage playing at home.
