Xiaomi will reportedly release the Mi 5c soon after several weeks of rumors and speculations. New photos of the Android smartphone from the Chinese tech company were also leaked again.
Besides Samsung and LG, Xiaomi is also another rising name in the Asian smartphone market. Their smartphones usually have high specs but with low prices and the Mi 5c is no exception.
The Xiaomi Mi 5c release date rumor comes from the Chinese social media site Weibo and states that it will be launched on Dec. 6, Android Pure reported. Xiaomi's new rumored smartphone has also been spotted in a Geekbench listing which showed its possible specs.
Xiaomi's Mi 5c will reportedly be powered by a still unnamed octa-core processor running at 1.4GHz coupled with 3GB RAM and a 5.5-inch 1080p display. It could feature Xiaomi's own Pine Cone processor similar to how Samsung uses their own Exynos SoC.
Unfortunately, the new Android smartphone from Xiaomi will reportedly run only the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Since it would be released after the Nougat 7.0 version has been launched by Google, there is a high chance that the Mi 5c would get the update in 2017.
Rival Meizu is also reportedly releasing the M5 Note on the same day the Xiaomi Mi 5c will be launched, Android Headlines reported. Both smartphones are expected to be in the same $145 to $150 price range but an international release has not been confirmed yet.
Earlier rumors regarding the Xiaomi Mi 5c claimed a release date of Dec. 12 and that it would be powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 instead. Since the rumored price tag is targeted more on the mid-tier market, it would make sense that the device will not be powered by the 820.
Fans have less than a week to wait for the rumored Xiaomi Mi 5c release on Dec. 6. Once the official products are revealed, they would finally be able to compare the Mi 5c and the Meizu M5 Note.
