Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie recently spent their first Thanksgiving as an estranged couple. Despite the two Hollywood celebrities' ongoing divorce drama, the "Allied" actor took advantage of the holiday to recuperate at an exclusive resort.

Pitt traveled to Turks and Caicos over the Thanksgiving holiday to take advantage of the various amenities at the posh resort, the Amanyara Villas. A source told People that the Hollywood actor had a "very restful and relaxing" vacation during the Thanksgiving weekend.

Accompanied by an "old friend," Pitt enjoyed a tropical vacation surrounded by clear blue waters and amazing scenery. However, the identity of Pitt's companion was not disclosed although the actor was joined by a male friend.

Meanwhile, previous reports indicated that Jolie allegedly invited Pitt to join her and their six children for Thanksgiving in Los Angeles. Several reports claimed that the former couple's kids requested that they spend the Thanksgiving holiday together as one family.

Some of the reports even stated that Jolie rescinded her invitation and refused to Pitt see the children during the holidays. A source told Entertainment Tonight that the said reports were untrue and "completely false."

The "Maleficent" actress did not extend a Thanksgiving invitation to her estranged husband. The source stated, "They were never planning to see Brad on Thanksgiving per the schedule created by the children and the family therapist."

Pitt and Jolie share six children together namely eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, Shiloh, Zahara, Pax and Maddox. The actor filed for joint physical and legal custody for their kids, however, Jolie requested for sole physical custody.

Given earlier allegations that Pitt had a physical altercation with 15-year old son Maddox, the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) recommended a temporary arrangement of supervised visitations for the actor. Recently, Pitt was cleared of the child abuse claims.

Pitt and Jolie announced their separation in September. Watch the actor's first red carpet appearance following his split from Jolie below:
