Nokia's comeback promise is nearing with the launch of Nokia Android-based smartphones led by none other than Nokia D1C.
Previously, a lot doubted the possibility of Nokia joining the Android market, but during the company's Capital Markets day 2016 event, it was confirmed that the Nokia phone series will be coming back in 2017 with the launch of their newest line of technology - Android OS.
GreekBench timely posted an image of the newest Nokia baby, Nokia D1C, along with Nokia 5320 and Nokia 1490. Rumors suggest that Nokia D1C will be the first Nokia-branded Android smartphone to be released. The website seems to have also hinted the release of additional gadgets the year after.
So far, what users are sure of is that Nokia D1C is something to watch out for. According to the leak, the device runs on a build of "Android Nougat" and it will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. It packs a 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera. PhoneArena reported that the specs of the coming Nokia phone is something to look forward to, and it further reported that the Snapdragon SoC is a dual-core CPU that supports Quick Charge 3.0.
It is, however, important to note that the Nokia Android smartphone will not be produced by the company itself but by the HMD Global. It can be remembered that Nokia and the Finland-based company had an agreement wherein Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri allowed HMD Global to use his brand for ten years.
Nonetheless, the HMD Global is committed to maintain and cultivate Nokia's quality and superb brand it has always been known for. In fact, Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri and HMD are expected to give details about all their Android Nokia smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.
