Many gadget enthusiasts are anticipating the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S8.  Apart from predictions that it will come to life by early 2017, there are also rumors that the upcoming flagship phone would include some very interesting features such as a 4K display and the Viv digital assistant. Latest reports also suggest that the device could feature an AF (autofocus) selfie camera.

According to ETNews, Samsung is looking for ways to make the front-facing camera of their upcoming device better than the ones on previous models. The company has already made huge improvements when it comes to the main camera, as proven by the Galaxy S7, and it is said that they are now focusing on making the secondary shooter better. Rumor has it that selfie lovers just might meet their dream device next year.

The rumored AF front-facing camera is expected to have an improvement in terms quality and will not simply rely on big megapixel numbers.  A new type of focusing mechanism called an encoder-type AF actuator is said to be in development, and instead of placing the contraption in the middle, it will reportedly be mounted on the side of the lens. This will prevent the front-facing camera from having a bump like many smartphone main cameras, which use the voice coil motor.

However, no information was mentioned about the cam's resolution. Samsung has been stuck with the 5 MP front-facing camera for some time already while competitors have already gone up to 8 and 13 MP lenses.

Meanwhile, according to , Trusted Reviews, Samsung Galaxy S8 could use a 4K screen resolution capable of having an 806 ppi pixel density and it could also have 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch AMOLED display variants. Moreover, there are speculations that it will be powered by either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 or the newer Snapdragon 835 processor, although it is said that an Exynos chip is likely to be used for one of its variants, similar to the Galaxy S7.

Furthermor, the upcoming flagship phone might house 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space. A USB Type-C port could replace the 3.5 mm jack, a removable battery might be used to prevent issues similar to the Note 7 fiasco, a major overhaul of its design could be done, and a new digital assistant called Viv might be included.

Tech enthusiasts are predicting that the Samsung Galaxy S8 would revealed during the Moble World Congress 2017 event in Barcelona that is set to happen from Feb. 27 until March 2. However, these details have not been confirmed by the South Korean company so fans will have to wait for an announcement regarding Samsung's next flagship phone.
