Game developer Ubisoft has jumped into the virtual reality bandwagon. Starting with its latest release called "Eagle Flight," all upcoming VR titles will support cross-platforms so that more gamers can team up or play against each other.

"Eagle Flight" lets players soar high in the sky as an eagle. The game's environment is not set in the present; rather, it is 50 years after humans have become extinct. It is set in on a post-apocalyptic version of Paris, France, according to the Ubisoft blog.

The VR game was released on Nov. 29 and supports the three current VR headsets available in the market right now, the Sony PlayStation VR, the Oculus Rift, and the HTC Vive. It does not really matter which VR headset a player uses, the important thing is, they get to have the immersive gaming experience online.

Ubisoft has also teamed up with game developer Red Storm Entertainment ("Rainbow Six," Ghost Recon" and other "Tom Clancy"  game series) and will soon release other VR-based games. "Werewolves Within" is scheduled to hit the shelves on Dec. 20 while "Star Trek: Bridge Crew" will be ready by March 14, 2017.

"Making our VR titles cross-platform has been a goal of ours from the start and we're happy to announce that Eagle Flight, Werewolves Within, and Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be playable cross-platform on PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive," David Votypka, senior creative director at Red Storm, said in the same blog post.

Votypka also pointed out that their projects lean more toward the multiplayer aspect of the games, which is clearly seen with their first person shooter multiplayer games. This is also what they are targeting with the VR types of games, that no matter what headset a player is using, they can quickly join a game to have some fun and enjoyment, as well as social interaction with other online players.

"Eagle Eye" is now available for the PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift and will land on the HTC Vive on Dec. 20.  "Werewolves Within" is scheduled to arrive on Dec. 6, while "Star Trek: Bridge Crew" will come on March 14.  The two games will be available on all three platforms at lunch.
