Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s Test for Prospective Employees: Would He Work for You?

If Facebook is where you want a job, you must impress Mark Zuckerberg with one basic test. At this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the CEO of the company shared is one rule for hiring prospective employees: he "would want to work" for him or her.  

Zuckerberg revealed the simple yet fascinating hiring policy during a Q&A session at MWC. What does it mean?

It does not mean that the 30-year-old Zuckerberg, with a net worth of about $35 billion is planning to step down as the CEO of Facebook. It just means that theoretically he would "be happy" to work for the Facebook applicant.

Zuckerberg said that by following that screening process, one is not "going to go wrong," according to PC Mag Asia. However, there is a secondary criterion.

He added that in order for an applicant to be hired at Facebook, the person must share Zuckerberg's values. Those values are about how to connect the world via the Internet.  

Zuckerberg's hiring process seems to be working. For instance, Sheryl Sandberg, the COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Facebook is arguably the most famous female in the tech world, according to The Independent.

The founder of Facebook also stressed the importance of keeping a team "as small as possible." He noted that his company has fewer than 10,000 employees, yet they serve over one billion people.

Currently Zuckerberg is working on various projects, including Internet.org. The goal is to use the Internet to improve communication and businesses.  

This is the third time that Zuckerberg has returned to Spain for the MWC.  He quipped that he also returns to Spain for the ham.

Zuckerberg recalled when he had been mailed a leg of ham for his birthday. The quality impressed him, but Facebook security destroyed it-perhaps asking "Is it a bomb?"
