Rudy Gay of the Sacramento Kings is expected to be traded before or at the February deadline next year. One of the possible trade destinations for Gay is the Atlanta Hawks team that is looking for additional offense.

The Hawks have started the season strong as they handed the Cleveland Cavaliers their first loss of the season. However, there offensive deficiency caught up to them and they are currently in a six-game losing streak.

According to Rocky Robertson of FanSided, the Hawks have to find another scorer who can play isolation ball in the clutch. He suggested trading Paul Millsap to the Kings in exchange for Gay. He opined that Millsap is due to for a max contract and the team should not give him that at the end of the season.

Robertson added that Millsap's play will regress in the coming seasons since he will turn 32 years old next year. He also believes Gay is a perfect player for the Hawks because he can score at will while also being a clutch player.

"Rudy Gay can flat out get buckets. Throughout his career, the one certainty day-in and day-out was that he would find a way to get the ball through the hoop," Robertson reported.

"Not to mention, he is one of the most clutch players of this generation. Time and time again, he has proven that he is the man that can deliver the biggest shot of the night for his team," he added.

Gay, who just turned 30 years old in August, is also a free agent at the end of the season. However, he still has some prime years left in his tank, unlike Millsap. He can also slide into the four spot and stretch out the defense.

A one-on-one trade of Gay for Millsap is not possible, per the ESPN Trade Machine. Millsap's $20 million salary does not match Gay's $13 million. The Kings could add another player like Omri Casspi or Ben McLemor in the mix to at least even out the trade.

Nevertheless, these are just purely speculative at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. There are other teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat being linked with Gay this season.
