2NE1 comeback in 2017?

2NE1 disbandment is reportedly a ploy of YG Entertainment for its planned 2NE1 comeback. Rumor has it that the trio will make a comeback under a new name.

There is a rumor going around online saying that YG's Yang Hyun Suk will rebrand 2NE1 as XXI. The three roman numerals will represent the three members. It is speculated that YG has been hard at work thinking of ways on how Korean netizens will be able to forgive and accept Park Bom for her drug scandal. Park Bom liked a copy of an article showing that she agrees with it.

Apparently, the only way for netizens to forget about Bom's case is to create a bigger news like the disbandment of 2NE1. The company is allegedly thinking that if fans will think that there is no hope for a comeback in the future, the yearning for the group will be stronger.

Moreover, YG purportedly want fans to forget about Minzy as part of the group. Minzy will always be associated with 2NE1 and will help her promotions as a solo artist. It seems that there is a bad blood between Minzy and YG Entertainment for her departure as soon as the 2NE1 contract has expired. However, YG Entertainment previously denied that there are ill feelings toward Minzy.

For the past years, 2NE1 has been using XXI in their music videos. This reportedly made YG Entertainment think that it fits the rebranding of the group. Park Bom appears close to Yang Hyun Suk based on some episodes of 2NE1 TV. While the YG CEO is surely disappointed, he will help the singer he nurtured in the first place.

On Nov. 25, YG Entertainment announced that 2NE1 has been disbanded for the remaining three members are unable to continue after Minzy's departure. Minzy left the group and the label and signed to Music Works. Now, she is taking her time to prepare for her solo debut before the end of 2016.
