2NE1 Dara unfollowed YG on Instagram, which is interpreted by some fans as the singer's small way of rebelling to her entertainment agency.
Some fans noticed that Dara is no longer following the posts of her agency thinking that the former 2NE1 member is furious at her label for disbanding 2NE1. Last week, YG Entertainment officially announced that they have decided to disband the agency's female group citing Minzy's departure made it hard for the remaining members to go on. The disbandment shocked fans as 2NE1 is one of the top girl groups in South Korea and worldwide.
All Kpop translated the official announcement and it reads,
"Our contract with 2NE1 came to an end in May of 2016, and as we faced a situation where Minzy is no longer with us, we ultimately came to a decision of 2NE1's official disbandment after long discussion.
For the past 7 years, 2NE1 was a representative group of YG. We, too, cannot express how upset and disappointed we are. However, we judge that it'll be difficult to continue promoting. We decided that instead of looking forward to 2NE1's unpredictable promotions, we should rather focus on the solo promotions of the members.
We sincerely appreciate everyone who loved 2NE1 and their music."
It was revealed that CL and Dara renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment. Park Bom, on the other hand, did not renew her contract with the label. Meanwhile, Minzy left the group and the label earlier this year and signed under Music Works and is currently preparing for her solo debut.
Fans worldwide are mourning the loss one of South Korea's top girl group. Currently, CL is working on her singing career in the US, while Dara is busy working in the Philippines as judge of a reality show. Dara is also YG's head of PR and will reportedly focus on hosting and acting.
