"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is set prior to the events of the original 1977 "Star Wars" movie, detailing how the Rebel Alliance got hold of the Death Star plans. The film will see familiar characters returning and it is now teased that Princess Leia Organa herself will be making a cameo appearance.

According to Time, an interview with director Gareth Edwards was featured in a promotional clip focusing on Senator Bail Organa, once again played by Jimmy Smits. Smits played the role in "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith."

Edwards was asked if Princess Leia would be making an appearance, wherein the director simply stated that "I don't want to ruin it for people."

The answer is neither a confirmation nor a denial. Given that the 1977 "Star Wars" film opens with Leia already in possession of the plans "Rogue One" is expected to end with the rebels handing them to her before she sends off towards Tattooine.

While the director may have been coy about Leia's cameo in the film leaked details of the end credits further tease she is indeed appearing, Cinema Blend reported. In the leaked list of cast members, actress Ingvild Deila is credited as Princess Leia Organa, a role previously portrayed by Carrie Fisher.

Deila's most notable role so far in a big blockbuster film is "Avengers: Age of Ultron," in which she played a character listed only as a "world tech hub." She has appeared in several highly acclaimed short films such as "Hippopotamus," "Killer Bird" and "Yayo."

This leaked copy of the credits also lists Guy Henry to portray Grand Moff Tarkin, previously played by Peter Cushing. Tarkin has been teased in the trailer for "Rogue One" and in "Star Wars" was depicted as the commander of the Death Star, along with Darth Vader.

It should be noted that the authenticity of the leaked credits has yet to be confirmed and Lucasfilm has yet to confirm or deny the involvement of Princess Leia in the film.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" releases this Dec. 16.
