WWE Rumors: Samoa Joe making his main roster debut at the Royal Rumble?

Samoa Joe celebrates winning the NXT championship against Finn Balor in an NXT Live Event.

Samoa Joe recently lost the NXT title to Shinsuke Nakamura during the brand's tour of Japan. According to the latest rumors, Joe will be making his main roster debut very soon and it could be at the 2017 Royal Rumble.

A lot of fans were surprised when Joe defeated Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: Toronto last month to become a two-time NXT champion. However, it was reported by several media outlets that it was done so that Nakamura can win it back in Japan.

As it turned out, the rumors were true as "The King of Strong Style" became a two-time NXT champion on December 3 in Japan. A rematch for the title was announced afterward and it will be inside a Steel Cage during a live event in Australia.

The match has not aired on WWE television but the match already happened on Thursday, per Bleacher Report. Nakamura successfully defended the title and he will now move on to his new feud against the No. 1 contender Bobby Roode.

On the other hand, the latest loss leaves Joe nothing left to do in NXT. He is more than ready for the main roster and his star power is needed in either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live. According to Cageside Seats, Joe's main roster call up is on the horizon.

The report noted that the earliest date might be at the Royal Rumble in San Antonio next year. It is a perfect debut for Joe much like Styles' debut at the Rumble last year. Of course, Joe has been with the WWE for over a year already but not on the main roster.

Nevertheless, fans will surely give him a big ovation because he deserves to be on the main roster. There are a lot of possible feuds for Joe for both brands. He could have a showdown with WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens or he can challenge Braun Strowman.

If he gets called up to SmackDown, he can easily become the No. 1 contender for The Miz's Intercontinental championship. The Miz is currently in a feud with Daniel Bryan and the SmackDown Live GM can simply call up his friend from NXT.

However, it should be noted that these are just rumors and nothing has been confirmed. Check out the video below to see some of the highlights of the match between Joe and Nakamura.
