LG could be releasing an LG V30 without the secondary display found in the V20 and the V10. The new information comes from reliable leaker Evan Blass.

When the LG V10 was released, it was considered a refreshing break from the usual smartphone designs. The small secondary display on top of the main one allowed users to quickly launch apps, see the time, skip songs and more.

Following the underrated success of the LG V10 is the LG V20. It still has a secondary display which can be customized to some extent but the next V30 device could ditch the ticker altogether possibly in 2018.

Blass posted a tweet saying that he has the early renders of the V30 which could drop the secondary display, GSM Arena reported. LG will reportedly replace it with something new but it was not shown nor detailed in the replies on Twitter.

Since they will reportedly replace the ticker, it would be fair to assume that they will still be adding in another form of display. They could make the screen bigger or they could finally use AMOLED screen panels for a brighter and more power-efficient display overall.

The LG V30 could also ditch the removable battery in order to make it fully waterproof, Phone Radar reported. Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge is waterproof and it has been a deciding factor for some buyers looking to upgrade their 2015 smartphones.

Making the LG V30 a waterproof device will be a huge advantage for the South Korean tech company. The LG V20 already has spectacular specs but some users feel that it needed the water resistant feature to become perfect.

More details regarding the LG V30 could be expected in the upcoming CES 2017 or MWC 2017 events. LG could also reveal the G6 which will reportedly ditch the modular accessories as well.
