A young Chinese woman experienced sexual molestation in the hands of a plastic surgeon when she underwent cosmetic surgery in 2015 in Shanghai. She posted her experience on Chinese social media site Weibo, and it became viral.
The victim, who was 19 in 2015 when the incident happened, went to the clinic of Dr. Yu Dong at the Ninth People’s Hospital in Shanghai for cosmetic surgery because she finds the shape of her face somewhat sharp and not delicate. She searched for a plastic surgeon on the internet and saved money by working part-time.
It took her years to save for the procedure. During the consultation with Yu, he said it is impossible to fix her lower jaw without also operating on her chin. Since she trusted him, she agreed to what the doctor suggested, What’s on Weibo reported.
On the day of the surgery, Yu briefed the victim and two other patients what would happen. At that time they were already wearing surgery gowns and nothing underneath. Yu placed his hand inside the gown of one of the patients named Hu, who was going to have breast surgery, and did the same to the victim and jokingly commented her breasts are not fake.
Although she felt uncomfortable and dumbfounded, she kept quiet about what Yu did. Inside his clinic, before the surgery, Yu immediately embraced her, pinned the victim on the bed and had sex with her. He admitted he acted crazy and begged her not to tell anyone what happened.
She was discharged three days after the surgery due to lack of hospital beds, but her face was still swollen, so she had to return to Yu even if she did not want to since she needed further treatment. Yu punctured her cheek to drain out the fluids and had her confined again to clean her surgical wounds.
On her second appointment, even if the victim still had a tube in her mouth, Yu allegedly had sex with her again, but warned her not to tell anyone, and in exchange, he would not charge for her second confinement. Since her wounds are not yet healed, she needs to return to Yu who said he would only treat her if she agrees to give him oral sex.
Since she shared the story on Weibo, other victims of Yu had come out to tell their horror stories in his hands. However, Yu’s wife posted on Weibo that he is denying all the accusations. The hospital said it would investigate and take legal measures depending on the result of the investigation.
Similar cases of molestation by surgeons before the procedure have been reported in the past by female patients.
