Apple AirPods release date remains a mystery, issue with Bluetooth connection?

| Dec 12, 2016 04:11 AM EST

Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller announces AirPods during a launch event on September 7, 2016 in San Francisco, California.

The Apple Airpods was supposed to ship a few weeks after the new iPhone 7 was released back in October. It is already mid-December and there is still no sign of the high-tech wireless earphones. The latest report suggests that there could be problems with its Bluetooth connection.

The Cupertino-based tech giant may have run into a wireless connection issue, and the left and right earpieces could be having trouble syncing audio. The $159 audio gadget receives Bluetooth signals independently, and they need to play an audio file at the same time to avoid an unpleasant listening experience, WCCFTech reported.

Commonly, only one of the earpieces receives the Bluetooth signal from the smartphone, and it transfers the signal to the other earpiece. This is the reason why there is still a physical connection between the two earpieces.  Although Apple is trying to create something unique with their Airpods, it seems the company is also making things more complicated.

Furthermore, a person familiar with the research and development of the unreleased accessory also mentioned that the company is looking into other possible problematic situations involving the audio device. According to MacWorld, there is always a chance that a user may lose one of the earpieces or the battery of one of the earpiece dies out.

A couple of months back, Apple sent out several Airpods to be reviewed, which is a normal practice in the industry. Many of the reviews posted a positive liking for the new product and reported that it would arrive in October. Those who were lucky enough to try the Airpods during the iPhone event were also impressed and felt excited about it. However, two months have passed and everybody is still waiting for the wireless earphones. Apple has not even issued an explanation about its delay.

During its unveiling, Apple boasted that their new Bluetooth earphones will have up to 5 hours of battery life, charged via its own case and easy pairing. Users can also interact with Siri through the earphones.

Meanwhile, tech observers believe that the Airpods are getting manufactured right now and is speculated to arrive by January 2017.
