"Jurassic World 2" is set to give avid fans of the movie franchise a slightly different storyline than other "Jurassic Park" installments. With a darker plot, moviegoers can expect to see grittier scenes that may even include the potential death of a lead character, according to director J.A. Bayona and Chris Pratt.

Previous "Jurassic Park" films featured a plot that consisted of a family or group of characters whose visit to the dinosaur-filled island became a nightmare where they are forced to survive until help arrives. Recently, Bayona teased that the upcoming sequel will take "Jurassic World 2" to a different path and storyline.

In an interview with Coming Soon, the filmmaker shared that the upcoming film will include topics that mirror some of the world's current political or environmental issues. Similar to how "Jurassic World" featured the exploitation of dinosaurs for potential military use, the sequel will contain underlying messages that reflect "the moment we live in right now," according to Bayona.

The director also commented that "Jurassic World 2" will be darker than its predecessor and grittier than other films in the "Jurassic Park" franchise. He stated, "It's so different from the other films ... It's very interesting the way the film is darker than the other ones."

Despite the upcoming movie's darker tone, the "Jurassic World 2" director teased that it will still contain fun moments. Fans of the "Jurassic World" franchise can also look forward to seeing beloved characters' new adventures with pre-historic animals.

Meanwhile, Pratt gave an interesting update about his character's fate during a recent Reddit Q&A session. Portraying the raptor trainer Owen, the actor mentioned that his character might get killed in the upcoming sequel.

However, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor appears to be joking when he mentioned Owen's death. He also teased that he was lucky to have survived "Jurassic World" since his character's passion involved working with dangerous raptors.

"Jurassic World 2" is expected to hit movie theaters in March 2017. Watch the trailer for the movie's first installment below:
