A.J. Styles talks about John Cena during an interview with WWE.com.

There were a lot of speculations regarding the future of John Cena in the WWE. However, the latest rumors imply that Cena will be back on television next year and he is going to continue his feud against A.J. Styles for the WWE championship.

Cena has been out of WWE television since October to film the second season of "American Grit." It was also rumored that he filmed a scene for "Thor: Ragnarok" as himself for a cameo role. Finally, he hosted the recent episode of "Saturday Night Live" and he was quite good at it.

The 39-year-old is also set to start in a comedy film next year which could affect his status for next year. There were reports stating that he will be a part-timer while others believe he might miss WrestleMania 33.

However, it seems like Cena is going to back on television early next year. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Cena will work full-time during WrestleMania season and he is going to resume his feud against Styles.

"It appears that Styles will go back to working on top with John Cena over the WWE title, who returns on 12/26 for a house show in Madison Square Garden, and is expected to work regularly from that point on," Meltzer said.

"The storyline will revert back to the idea that Cena is attempting to tie Ric Flair's record of 16 championships," he added.

The original plans for WrestleMania before Cena's hiatus was him fighting against Styles for the WWE title. Now that the 15-time champion has finished outside commitments, it is now time for him to conquer a WWE record.

There was a lot of concern backstage in the WWE since Cena is expected to receive more film roles. The superstar is also unhappy about other part-timers making more money than him despite all of the time he has invested in the company.

According to Blake Oestriecher of Forbes.com, the WWE and Cena have to sort out their differences in order to work harmoniously. He added that Cena is still the face of the WWE and he should be booked to work on major storylines.

Nevertheless, these are just rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. Check out the video below to watch Styles and The Club beat up Cena in an episode of Raw.
