This year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona was about more than cellphones as tech companies compete to provide their customers with the most innovative goods and services on the market. This included smartwatches, VR headsets, electric bikes, and mobile payment systems from Apple (Apple Pay) and Samsung (Samsung Pay).

Sundar Pichai, Google Senior VP, announced the launching of solar-powered drones to boost Internet access in nations with low connectivity. Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, plugged Internet.org, whose goal is to improve Internet connections in several countries.

Wearable devices are one of the hottest industries in the tech world, according to New Hampshire Voice. Experts predict that it will soon be a "game changer" in the market.

Huawei showcased its Android Wear watch that has many of same functions that other Android Wear watches have. The difference is how stylish the smartwatch is with its bright and crisp display, different bands to select from, and availability in gold or stainless steel, according to PC World. It is so smart that it looks like a regular watch!

HTC unveiled some of the new cellphones in its product line. However, arguably its most innovative item was its revolutionary Vive VR (virtual reality) headset, which will allow you to explore your environment freely.

If you think that peddling a bike is too much work, you will enjoy the new Ford electric bike. The company  has plans to introduce more models in the future.

Since the event showcases mobile phones by definition, what is new in the world of smartphones? The latest models contain quad core processors and more storage. In addition, during the past few quarters multi-tasking has improved.

The MWC 2015 was a preview of fresh and exciting products we can expect this year. New smartphones, wearable devices, and better connectivity are just some of the things we can expect. Stay tuned.
