The leading competitor in the field of gaming and electronics, Sony, is planning to bring its virtual-reality headphones in the market. The headset named 'Project Morpheus' is expected to hit the market in the first half the year 2016.
The product release was officially announced by the company on Tuesday, while the prototype of the new product was revealed by the company last year when game developers from all over the world gathered for a meeting. The headset will be compatible with Sony's PS4, wherein the gamers will get to see the virtual world simulation on the headphone screen that cover their eyes, according to ABC Action News.
The digital product company unveiled its new prototype for the virtual-reality headphone on Tuesday. The only changes that the new Project Morpheus prototype incorporate as compared to the older version presented last year, is in weight distribution and open-and-shut formation of the screen. Now, more weight is distributed towards the back of the head and screen leaves room for the gamer to put on the specs, as per reports by The Malay Mail.
The new headphone has nine LED lights fitted at the external end that will probably track the movement. The 5.7-inch OLED display screen is designed to render images at the rate of 120 frames per second, offering a wide and better view to the gamer. The expected cost of this gadget has not been revealed by the company.
Other companies, including HTC and Valve announced the release of their version of the virtual-reality headphones sometime later this year. With Sony jumping into the market of virtual-reality headphone, it will be exciting to see the user acceptance of the desperate gamers.
