'Super Mario Run' is a side-scrolling, auto-runner platformer video game developed by Nintendo for iOS and Android devices.

"Super Mario" has been around the gaming industry for almost three decades, with it having played in almost all gaming consoles that has sprung up through the years. Now, the iconic plumber in the jumper is now available for the iPhone with "Super Mario Run" debuting last Thursday in the iOS.

The game became available in the Apple App Store last Dec. 15 and iPhone users can now play their favorite plumber on the go with this new game, as reported by Express. The mechanics of the game are simple, Mario automatically runs across the screen and the player only has to tap the screen to make Mario jump to avoid obstacle and catch coins.

In a story by Wired.com, Nintendo's Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto, who was responsible for the first Mario game, shared that the idea of the game came from speedruns they saw on Youtube, with players not stopping throughout the course of the game.

Although it only has a basic run and tap feature, the game has three features to boast, namely, the main game, the multiplayer Toad Rally and the Kingdom Builder feature.

Unfortunately, for fans of the original game, Miyamoto said he does not want the original Mario game, wherein you can control whether the characters go, to be available for phones, saying that it is "not very fun creatively." He added that they are making games for phones that people actually want to pay for.

Despite the release in the iOS, the game is still not available for Android devices. However, Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo, said that the company is planning to have the game available for Android devices next year.

The game costs $9.99 for the full version while fans can download a trial version to test the first three levels in the main game mode.
