Avid gamers have the knack of finding the best-kept secrets that developers hide deep within their games. For quite some time now, it has been common practice within the gaming community to find and uncover these secrets, and players can even find special items if they uncover them. Here are some of those that can be found in games released in 2016.
Dark Souls 3
Game developer FromSoftware incorporated many hidden areas and enemy bosses in "Dark Souls 3." Gamers are not required to visit these areas to finish their quest, but they are advised to do so to reap great rewards.
The hidden areas include Firelink Shrine Tower, the Old Wolf of Farron bonfire, the Archdragon Peak, and several more. In these places, players will have to face the Stray Demon, the Nameless King boss, among other strong enemies. They should be ready to suffer defeat more than once, Polygon reported. Still, their effort will be worth it because they just might find rare items like the Fire Keeper armor set, the Estus Ring, and the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring.
Players can also get married in the game. They must threaten the NPC (non playable character) named Anri of Astoria by pointing a magical knife to her forehead before she finally says yes, IGN added.
Destiny: Rise of Iron
"Destiny" players were given the ultimate challenge when its expansion pack "Rise of Iron" arrived. Gamers were promised an Exotic Pulse Rifle if they uncover the secret of the Wrath of the Machine raid.
In order to complete the quest, players need to find all five hidden monitors. The first four ones are relatively easy, but the fifth is not. Players are required to solve a mathematical formula, which requires translation of binary codes to the common numbers familiar to many.
Game developer Bungie also decided that in order to activate the fifth monitor, seven players are required, reports VG247.
Gears of War 4
"Gears of War 4" includes a secret game in its insane mode prologue. If a player is fast enough to activate the game, they can get their hands on Gru's Freeze Gun from the "Despicable Me" animation movie. The gun, called Despicable You, instantly freezes opposing players. However, the gun is not available outside the prologue mission, and it only has a limited ammo.
There are many more great big secrets hidden in many games. "Watch Dogs 2," "The Witness" and "Overwatch" are just a few more of them.
