The Season Pass for "Final Fantasy XV" is now available and it includes access to several key DLC packs for the main game. One of these expansions is the "Episode Gladiolus" DLC, focusing on a side-story where the player takes control of Gladiolus instead of Noctis. During this expansion a classic villain is set to make his "Final Fantasy XV" debut.
Several characters have made reoccurring appearances throughout the franchise, such as Moogles and Chocobos. Every game since the second main title has had someone named Cid. However, the DLC is not bringing back a recurring hero and is instead reintroducing the villain Gilgamesh, VG 24/7 reported.
Gilgamesh made his debut in "Final Fantasy V" for the Super Famicom. The villain has since popped up in other games such as "Final Fantasy VIII," "Final Fantasy IX," "Final Fantasy XI," Final Fantasy XII" and "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn." He has also appeared in numerous spin-off titles.
In most cases his appearance is based on the design from "Final Fantasy V" but he has been depicted differently in at least two cases. Through most iterations Gilgamesh is portrayed as an inept fighter who tries to compensate for his lack of skill by stealing swords owned by renowned warriors.
Gladiolus does drop out of Noctis' party for a short period in the main campaign of "Final Fantasy XV" and when he returns he is shown with a brand new scar. It is hinted that this wound may have been a result from his encounter with Gilgamesh.
According to Cinema Blend, the design Gilgamesh will have has not yet been revealed but producer Haruyoshi Sawatari did confirm he will be a formidable foe for Gladiolus to fight. Sawatari was also reportedly coy in detailing more information about Gilgamesh, such as how the villain fights and how his story ties into Gladiolus' narrative.
Two other story DLCs are planned. One is "Episode Ignis" and the other "Episode Prompto," both of which are also Noctis' friend and party member in the main campaign.
