Orlando Bloom shared behind-the-scenes photos on Dec. 19 in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the worldwide release of "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring."

Daily Mail reported that Bloom initially auditioned for the minor role of Faramir, but ended up playing Legolas two days before his graduation from the Guildhall School in London.

The Englishman and SAG Award winner, who is turning 40 in January, learned how to use the bow and arrow for two months to better portray the son of the Elvenking Thranduil of Mirkwood in the Oscar-winning trilogy.

Bloom also shared a collage of his wig and make-up trials for the role, including the blue contact lenses that grazed his corneas so bad that "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson had to digitally color his eyes in some shots.

Another snap showed the actor beaming beside a river in New Zealand shortly before the boat that he and the dwarf Gimil's boat keeled over.

In one photo, Bloom and his co-star Viggo Mortensen, who portrayed Aragorn, were wearing similar hats while waiting for a helicopter to take off.

A snap also showed the "Burning Man" enthusiast topless while enjoying a day off catching waves with Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, who played Merry and Pippin in the film.

Bloom was one of the nine members of the Fellowship to get matching "nine" tattoos spelled in the Tengwar language of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Meanwhile, the English actor spent Sunday at Disneyland with his girlfriend of 10 months, award-winning pop star Katy Perry. Both of them graced "Westworld" star Shannon Woodward's birthday party on Saturday night at Blind Dragon.

Talking about her girlfriend, the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador told ET last week, "I'm super proud of the work that she does!"

"She's a voice that speaks to so many and it's remarkable to see her champion this cause, and it's amazing that we happen to do this together," he added.

The actor also admitted that his compassion has grown even more since he became a father to his son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

On May 26, 2017, Bloom will reprise his role as Flying Dutchman Captain Will Turner in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales."
