WWE Rumors: Possible Plans for The Rock at WrestleMania 33 Revealed

| Dec 22, 2016 02:37 AM EST

The Rock heads towards the ring at WrestleMania 31 back in 2015.

Dwayne Johnson, more famously known as The Rock, was away from the WWE for seven years before becoming a yearly attraction at WrestleMania since in 2011. He is expected to be at next year's spectacle in Orlando but what role will he play?

When The Rock returned in 2011, he was revealed as the guest host for WrestleMania 27. He went on to wrestle John Cena in the next two WrestleManias before making surprise appearances in the past three. He opened WrestleMania XXX with two other legends, Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

WrestleMania 31 saw him get physical with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon with the help of Ronda Rousey. And in this year's Grandest Stage, he wrestled an impromptu match against Erick Rowan and won in just six seconds.

The Rock and Cena also fended off the attack from The Wyatt Family to give the fans a WrestleMania moment. In an interview with WSVN-TV Entertainment (h/t Wrestling Inc.), the 44-year-old movie star was asked if he will be at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando.

"Sure, ya I'll see you there," The Rock said.

The only question for The Rock heading to Mania is what role he will play. According to WrestleTalk News, The Rock and Vince McMahon are at odds regarding that with the WWE chairman wanting Rocky to wrestle his "The Fate of the Furious" co-star Vin Diesel.

On the other hand, The Great One is not interested in wrestling Diesel which makes his WrestleMania role still up in the air. It should be noted that The Rock and Diesel had a feud earlier this year that brought up the possibility of it being used as a storyline.

The eighth installment in the Fast movie franchise is set to be released two weeks after WrestleMania 33. It is a great opportunity for Universal Pictures to promote the film in front of thousands of people and millions watching around the world.

The Rock appearing at WrestleMania 33 is a must-see event whatever role he might play. He is one of the most influential and famous actors at the moment. The WWE would want to use him to bring in more casual fans to watch wrestling.
