Gaming fans can now celebrate the 2016 holiday season in the virtual world of "Fallout Shelter." Similar to previous events, game developer Bethesda has released an update that brings in Christmas-themed contents as well as additional quests to keep players busy during the remaining days of the year.

Just like other games, the post apocalyptic simulation game also received its dose of holiday-themed content. The update contains decorations and outfits that players can use for their vault rooms and dwellers, as well as new side missions that players can tackle.  These will not be available for very long, though.

"Bring holiday cheer to your #FalloutShelter Vault today! New decorations, outfits, & quests are available for a limited time," reads the post on the game's Tweeter account. However, the studio has not yet provided full details about the available holiday quests.

The accompanying image on the post shows Christmas trees, presents and wreaths for the decors, while several of the dwellers can be seen wearing elf costumes, regular Santa outfits, and formal attires.

"Fallout Shelter's" offering this year is also quite different from last year's Christmas holiday update due to the quest that was introduced last July. According to an avid gamer called Pressing X, players will now have a chance to own legendary gears and limited edition items by simply completing these quests. The only requirement is, they should be at least level 11 to participate.

Additionally, the limited edition offering that can also be obtained via lunch boxes during this holiday season. Game fans can now have a better reason to open up those boxes that have been saved up for the past several months. These lunch boxes contain five cards, and one is guaranteed to provide a rare item or one that is better than the normal ones.

"Fallout Shelter" was released back in 2015 initially for iOS and Android mobile devices, but by July this year, the game became available for Windows PC as well.

"Fallout Shelter" is free to download. Additional items or special items can be purchased separately.
