Palermo has been struggling all season and has been in the cellar of the Italian top flight table for many rounds. The team was recently able to climb a spot above the bottom after they snapped a nine-game losing streak. Now they are in the 19th place in the overall standings, one point ahead of new cellar-dwellers Pescara.

The Rosanero nipped middling squad Genoa in a high-scoring 4-3 upset win on the road at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris last Sunday, as per Outside 90.

Genoa netted the opening goal in the fourth minute courtesy of Argentine forward Giovanni Simeone before Palermo winger Robin Quaison was able to level the count in the 42nd to reach the break tied at 1-1.

The hosts then netted the next two goals with strikes by Simeone and Serbian midfielder Nikola Ninkovic in the 57th and 65th minutes, giving Il Grifone a 3-1 advantage.

However, head coach Eugenio Corini's squad successfully mounted a comeback, scoring the final three goals of the seven-goal thriller to pull off the stunning come-from-behind victory. Edoardo Goldaniga, Andrea Rispoli, and Aleksandar Trajkovski had a goal in the 69th, 88th, and 90th minutes respectively during the comeback run.

Meanwhile, Pescara was crushed by Bologna, 0-3, at their own home field of Stadio Adriatico also last Sunday, ESPN reported.

Bologna defender Adam Masina opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Pescara midfielder Valerio Verre was sent off at the 16th.

The visitors scored two more goals in the 41st and 57th, courtesy of Swiss midfielder Blerim Dzemaili and Czech forward Ladislav Krejci, to complete the three-goal win.
