"Pokemon GO" can now be downloaded for the Apple Watch. This long-awaited app brings a whole range of features to the Apple Watch experience, but it does not have the full functionality of the smartphone version.
The Apple Watch version of "Pokemon GO" will not allow the gamers to play the full game on their wrist but there are still some key features that the app can do, according to Time. The app has a certain degree of interaction with the Health app installed in the Apple Watch, which means that play time is counted as workout and will count toward personal Activity rings.
The Pokemon GO Apple Watch app will notify the players about the presence of nearby Pokemon. Players should still pull their phones out in order to use the full app and capture the monsters. Also, the app will notify players when achievement medals are received and when Pokemon Eggs are hatched, according to Game Rant.
With the interactive capabilities of the Apple Watch version of "Pokemon GO", players will be notified when a Pokestop is near, and it will let the user collect items from it without having to use the phone's full functionalities. They can receive candies from Buddy Pokemon and hatch eggs while walking with the Apple Watch, as the distance traveled while wearing it counts.
The release of the Apple Watch version of "Pokemon GO" is surprising, as there have been lots of rumors about its delay or even cancellation over the past few months. Even after Apple and Niantic's confirmation of its release sometime soon, fans were still doubtful that the game will be released within 2016.
"Pokemon GO" is now available for the Apple Watch through the Apple App Store, as well as both Android and iOS devices. Here is the trailer for the new Baby Pokemon:
