Knicks vs. Celtics Game Preview

The Knicks (16-13) are just a half-game behind the third-seeded Celtics (17-13) in the standings. With a win on Sunday, New York will jump as a high as the third spot as they try to continue their current run. They are coming into the game with a two-game winning run and winners of six of their last ten games.

Kristaps Porzingis, who injured his knee in Thursday's 106-95 win against the Orlando Magic, is planning to play on Christmas. He told reporters after Friday's practice that he is ready despite having a "little inflammation" in his tendon and bone.

"What's today? We still got Saturday and then we play Sunday. I'll be ready," Porzingis said, via The New York Daily News.

"Oh, it's going to be huge. At the Garden? The atmosphere was already unbelievable. I can't imagine what's going to happen on Sunday. I'm looking forward to it," he added.

The Celtics, on the other hand, are heading to Christmas coming from an 117-112 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. Isaiah Thomas' 34 points and 10 assists were not enough to stop the rampaging Russell Westbrook.

Possible Starting Lineups

  •  Knicks: PG - Derrick Rose, SG - Courtney Lee, SF - Carmelo Anthony, PF - Kristaps Porzingis, C - Joakim Noah
  •  Celtics: PG - Isaiah Thomas, SG - Avery Bradley, SF - Jae Crowder, PF - Amir Johnson, C - Al Horford

Prediction: Knicks win a close one, 96-91.
