'Final Fantasy 7' remake rumors: Square Enix announced new game director; 'FFVII' remake PC version to launch on 2018?

'Final Fantasy VII Remake' is an upcoming video game remake, developed and published by Square Enix, of the original 1997 PlayStation role-playing video game by Square.

New details for "Final Fantasy 7" remake will feature a new game director and a rumored 2018 release date for the game's PC version.

Square Enix announced that "Final Fantasy 7" remake will have a new director handling the game as Kyohei Suzuki is chosen by the company as they believe that having another game director could speed up its development.

"Final Fantasy 7" remake director Tetsuya Nomura is likely willing to have another director on board the project as long as they are in track of the game's development and release date, iTech Post reported.

Meanwhile, it seems that "Final Fantasy 7" remake could launch on the PC platform on 2018. Square Enix has some ambiguous plans for "Final Fantasy" next year.

Starting with the launch the first episode of "Final Fantasy 7" remake sometime within 2017 for the PlayStation 4 along with other "FF" titles, such as "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" and "Final Fantasy XIII" trilogy with 1080p and 60fps. Several reports claim that episode 1 could launch on March next year.

In addition, Square Enix also plans to have a "Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Collection" for the PS4 and PS Vita. The collection will contain "Final Fantasy" games from the very first to ninth title.

However, Square Enix game producer Shinji Hashimoto commented on the rumored release date of "Final Fantasy 7" remake as stated that the company has not announced anything yet, and these are just rumors for now.

Hashimoto assured gaming fans of the franchise that the development team is working really hard on the "Final Fantasy 7" remake and an update on the status will be shared soon, Gamepur reported.

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase stated in an interview that he wanted "Final Fantasy 7" remake to be similar to "Final Fantasy XIII" and each part of the remake will be a full-scale game as every installment may tell the story from a different perspective.

Nomura added that they are preparing "Final Fantasy 7" remake for a big info reveal, instead of releasing small bits and pieces every now and then. Nomura and Square Enix will tell the gaming fans in person regarding the next updates of the game.

There are also rumors that "Final Fantasy 7" remake will likely be ported to the PlayStation 4 Pro and Nintendo Switch. Square Enix will be attending the Monaco Anime Game International Conferences 2017 (MAGIC) event on on Feb.19, 2017, announcing new game details for the "FFVII" remake and "Kingdom Hearts 3".

"Final Fantasy 7" remake is speculated to launch sometime in 2017 for the PS4 console as it marks the 20th Anniversary of the game.
