English pop stars Andrew Ridgeley and George Michael of Wham attend the film premiere of 'Dune.'

George Michael's net worth was not talked about much until the time of his death. The English singer, who popularized songs such as "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," "Faith" and "Last Christmas" passed away peacefully on Dec. 25, Sunday, in his home in Oxfordshire, England.

Michael's manager Michael Lipman verified that the former Wham singer died of cardiac arrest, the common cause of death among heroin users. With his sudden demise, everyone is talking about Michael's net worth, and who will get his fortune since he was not married and had no children at all.

"It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period," BBC quoted Michael's publicist as saying, who confirmed the death of the singer. "The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."

Despite Michael's low-profile in many years and his absence in the limelight, he is known as one of the best-selling British singers of all times. He has a whooping $200 million net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Michael, whose singing career spanned nearly four decades, sold over 100 million albums. Together with his school friend Andrew Ridgeley, they formed the duo Wham! As a solo singer, he was known for his songs "Careless Whisper" and "Fastlove."

Aside from Michael's net worth, his personal life had been controversial following his passing. He lived a contentious life after coming out in 1998, had several run-in's with the law and was involved with drugs.

Michael was discovered lifeless by his celebrity hairdresser boyfriend Fadi Fawaz in the early morning of Christmas day. He reportedly had been battling with heroin addiction over the past years. The singer was even treated for heroin overdose and was often brought to the hospital on many instances.

Since his death, Michael's generosity has begun to be disclosed. It was revealed that he helped a couple, who could not afford a fertility treatment. The singer also helped a student nurse pay his debts.

With Michael's vast net worth, it remains uncertain where his fortune will go. Check out one of Michael's hit songs "Last Christmas" here:
