Samsung may release the new Galaxy S8 with a larger screen compared to its Galaxy S7 predecessor. It is also expected to be the Android smartphone to replace the Galaxy Note 7.

Even though Samsung claimed that the Galaxy Note line is not dead, it would be the best choice for them to let the people forget about the Note 7 fiasco before releasing a new one. The Galaxy S8 might actually be the answer to their problems as the Galaxy S line has not yet produced problematic flagship handsets for the South Korean tech company.

Samsung may release two variants of the Galaxy S8 with one having a six-inch Super AMOLED display called the Galaxy S8 Plus, NDTV reported. Reliable leakster Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy S8 base model will have 8GB RAM and internal storage using the UFS 2.1 standard.

There is no confirmation yet from Samsung but they are also not denying the speculations and rumors. Samsung has also recently revealed their LPDDR4 RAM which may be used in their new smartphones starting in 2017.

To help people forget about the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung may release the Galaxy S8 Plus. It has a larger screen and a possibly more powerful hardware set although the difference may be minimal.

Samsung might also integrate their own new AI-powered virtual assistant in both of the Galaxy S8 smartphones in 2017, Indian Express reported. The AI in question could be developed by Viv Labs, which has been acquired by the South Korean tech giant in Oct. 2016. It is expected to take on Siri, Google Assistant and even Alexa from Amazon.

In terms of the display, both will still be using Samsung's own Super AMOLED panels. They would also have a dual-curved edge display by default which means that a Galaxy S8 Edge variant is out of the question. Fans can wait for the unveiling at the upcoming MWC 2017 event in Barcelona.
