Actor Tom Hardy attends the UK Premiere of 'The Revenant' at the Empire Leicester Square on January 14, 2016 in London, England.

FX is set to premiere its new show "Taboo" on Jan. 10, 2017. Going by its trailers and spoilers, Tom Hardy starring limited series seems to be the network's answer to HBO's "Game of Thrones."

Not only "Taboo" promises plenty of nudity, conspiracy and betrayal, it will also feature eerie glare of Jonathan Pryce, who recently retired from duties as the High Sparrow in "Game of Thrones" Season 6. Oona Chaplin, who starred in the HBO series as Talisa Stark, will also be seen in the upcoming FX drama.

Set in 1814, "Taboo" will follow James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), who seemingly rises from the grave after a dangerous trip to Africa to return to London to rebuild his life. As he claims his stake in his father's shipping empire and reunites with his sister, he will also uncover the legacy of his murdered father, thus, leading him to seek revenge on those who killed him.

The mini-series is also co-created by the actor along with his father Chips Hardy and Steven Knight. The first four episodes are directed by Kristoffer Nyhol while the second four episodes are directed by Anders Engstrom. Apart from former "Game of Thrones" cast members, the highly-anticipated FX's show also stars Stephen Graham, Michael Kelly, David Hayman, Jason Watkins, Leo Bill, Jefferson Hall and Robert Parker.

The gritty drama's trailer was released recently giving fans an eyeful of what is to come. In a brief moment, Tom can be seen completely naked as he sits in front of a lamp with his head in his hands. Another sneak peek showed him wading through a river in Africa and covered almost completely in tribal tattoos.

Tom was last seen in "Mad Max: Fury Road" along with BBC's "Peaky Binders" Season 3. Publicly, the 39-year-old actor was spotted making his way out of the airport after touching down at JFK on Dec. 16 in New York City, Just Jared reported.

Earlier this month, Tom told Esquire UK that he will soon get a tattoo done, thanks to his close friend Leonardo DiCaprio. The former actor will be getting himself inked with "Leo known everything" since he admittedly lost a bet to the "Titanic" star.
