2016 may not have been a big year for smartphone giant Samsung with the controversy surrounding its latest smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7, which was discontinued due to complaints of fires and explosions. But Samsung looks to bounce back with the release of the Galaxy Note 8 in 2017.

The Galaxy Note 8 may have a delayed release in a standalone event in New York in April instead of the Mobile World Congress in February 2017 in Barcelona, iDigital Times reported. That would be different move from what Samsung did in the past three years as it used the tech conference in Spain to reveal its latest smartphone.

Delaying the release of the Galaxy Note 8 will give more time for Samsung to avoid missing nuances from the technicalities of the new smartphone unlike what happened when the Galaxy Note 7, amid its breaking pre-order records in South Korea that caused supply shortages in other parts of the world, contained a defect in its batteries which led to excessive heating, causing explosions and fire.

Samsung may have lost the trust of its consumers with the fiasco caused by the Galaxy Note 7 but it is trying to regain faith by luring buyers with its own artificial intelligence feature just like Apple's Siri, Wall Street Journal reported. The voice-assistant services will not be limited to the smartphone but to home appliances and wearable technology devices, as well.

Samsung's AI is said to be just like Siri but just better, as it is reported to create its own programs for handling news tasks and comprehend users' queries better. The technology will be provided by Viv Labs which Samsung acquired earlier this year.

The last time Samsung hosted its release of its own device was way back in April 2013 when it showcased the Galaxy S4 at the Radio City Music Hall. Stay tuned here for more updates of the release of the Galaxy Note 8.
