The Nintendo Switch remains on course for a March 2017 release date and things just got a bit more interesting for the hybrid gaming console - new rumors indicate the device will be supported by Ubisoft and specifically with a new "Assassin's Creed" game title. And likely, it will be a simultaneous release with the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One.

The latest info, which is categorized as a rumor at this stage, was courtesy of YouTube channel OBE1plays (clip below) that claimed would-be Switch users will get a taste of the next AC title installment at around the same time with PS4 and Xbox One gamers. It will be a day-one Assassin's Creed release for all three gaming platforms, WWG.com reported.

While the claim by OBE1plays seems hard to take as solid fact, it was backed by reputed Nintendo insider Lauren Kate Dale. According to WCCFTech, Dale confirmed that an AC title is indeed lined up for the Switch in the same way that the game will be on Sony and Microsoft gaming machines.

"As far as I know Ubi (Ubisoft) want the next AC to hit Switch same date as other consoles," the well-known tech journalist was reported by WCCFTech as saying.

And if indeed Ubisoft is set to invade the Nintendo house with a new AC title, it likely will be the "Assassin's Creed Empire" that is rumored to use Egypt as the game backdrop, the report said, adding that the AC instalment is expected to materialize in the second half of 2017 or months after the March debut of the Nintendo Switch.

Assassin's Creed on the Switch, according to WWG.com, makes sense since "Ubisoft and Nintendo have always been very close partners, and Ubisoft already has multiple confirmed and rumored games coming to the Switch." The report added that hardware-wise, the Switch appears all geared up for an AC title.

"We're hearing that the Switch has a very open-world-friendly CPU," the report said.

But until Nintendo and Ubisoft provide the confirmation, nothing is set in stone on the matter and as noted by WCCFTech there is one stumbling block for the rumored Nintendo-Ubisoft partnership to push through - previous sales figures. The report said Ubisoft was not very happy with the last AC title made it to a Nintendo platform as the "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" for the Wii U sold way below expectations.
