It was not just “W Two Worlds” actor Lee Jong Suk who was criticized for his Daesang speech which he made on Friday at the 2016 MBC Drama Awards.

“Infinity Challenge” comedian Yoo Jae Suk was also accused by supporters of ousted South Korean President Park Geun-hye to attack the former president. He was also accused of being a supporter of the “left,” AllKpop reported.

Political Speech?

“I feel and learn many things through 'Infinity Challenge.' Especially as I learn about Korean history, I realized that when a nation goes through a difficult time, it is the people who rescue the country, that it's the people who are the true owners of a nation,” Yoo Jae Suk was quoted as saying on Thursday at the 2016 MBC Entertainment Awards.

He wished for 2017 to be a year “where all of Korea’s citizens can walk on the flower path, not just few people.” Some Koreans liked his acceptance speech because of his thoughtful words which come at a time that the country is still reeling from the political scandal involving the country’s first female president.

Former President’s Fan Club

The ones who did not like the comedian’s speech were members of the Park Sa Mo Fan Club who support ex-President Park. The next day, netizens did not like the very short speech of Lee Jong Suk and his admission that he was drowsy because of two herbal supplement relaxation pills he took. Some social media comments touched on the Daesang being award based on fan votes and not performance.

In contrast, at the 2016 KBS Drama Award, when “Descendants of the Sun” actors Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo gave their acceptance speeches for the Grand Excellence Daesang award, it was all tears between Song Joong-ki and bromance partner Park Bo Gum who beat Yoo Jae Suk in the Most–Searched Star Online survey.

According to Chosun, based on big data analysis made by SK Telecom, Park Bo Gum generated 792,560 mentions in 2016, while Yoo Jae Suk came second with 377,018. Third most-searched name is Park Yoochun, who was accused of sexual harassment, with 339,966. Song Joong-ki was fourth with 274,393 and eight was Song Hye Kyo with 96,755.
