A leaked photo that has shown support for Continuum-like feature for Galaxy S8 hints that Samsung may release a Windows 10 Mobile edition for its next flagship.
Continuum is a feature of Windows 10 Mobile that allows users to run full-fledged desktop version by connecting an external display, a keyboard and a mouse. A leaked photo that has surfaced recently shows that Samsung may introduce a Continuum-like feature on Galaxy S8, All About Windows Phone reported.
In the leaked image, a Samsung smartphone is shown connected to an external display for extended workspace with wireless connection to keyboard and mouse. The appearance of the desktop in the image appears like Windows 10 and it shows multiple windows open at the same time.
The Continuum-like feature is dubbed as Samsung Desktop Experience on the image. In order to develop such an experience, Samsung has to modify the UI and apps to run as desktop version when connected to monitor.
The Snapdragon 835 chipset that is expected to power Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones is capable of delivering full-fledged Windows 10 experience, Digit reported. Instead of modifying UI, Samsung may opt to release a Windows 10 edition of Galaxy as the Qualcomm chipset is capable of supporting it.
Currently, Windows phone market share is less than 1 percent. Microsoft is expected to make a comeback into the smartphone market with its rumored Suface Phone. However, there is no confirmation whether it will be releasing this year. If Galaxy S8 WIndows 10 smartphone, it would certainly help the opearting system to gain market share.
Even through rumors of Galaxy S8 Windows 10 version has started, there is no official confirmation from the South Korean company. Moreover, it can be confirmed whether the image is real or fake.
Samsung is pegged to unleash the Galaxy S8 featuring 5-inch screen and Galaxy S8 Plus with 6-inch screen in April. Both S8 and S8 Plus are expected to feature dual-edge curved display.
Rumors have it that the Galaxy S8 models would be arriving with rear-facing dual cameras. The South Korean company is expected to bring autofocus feature to the selfie camera.
The Snapdragon 835 chipset on Galaxy S8 models are expected to supported by 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. It is expected to axe 3.5 mm audio jack to let users connect headphones through the USB Type- C port.
